21-22 November 1998: Introduction to Gestalt Two day workshop with
Elizabeth Jackson. An experiential introduction to the principles and practice of Gestalt
Therapy. This workshop is for mental health professionals - volunteers - counsellors -
trainees and anyone with an inquiring mind interested in learning about Gestalt. Contact

Group Supervision Groups - led by John Bernard Harris. These groups
(maximum 5 members) are for people involved in running groups of any kind, who would like
regular (6 8 weekly) supervision on their groupwork practice. There are currently
vacancies in one group meeting in Manchester and another meeting near Huddersfield. Cost:

Trauma Supervision Group for professional and volunteer workers who help
people recover from trauma. Cost: £25 per session (3 hours) sliding scale for

11-13 December 1998:The Art of the Trainer - This workshop offers a
wide-ranging look at the philosophy and practice of training and facilitation from Gestalt
and other perspectives. Among the topics covered will be:
* The philosophy and psychology of learning
* Planning and delivering workshops and other training events
* Workshop design
* Training delivery styles - from didactic to experiential
* Creating a learning environment in the training room
* The group process of learning groups
The final programme will be negotiated with participants according to needs and interests.
We will use our own ways of working and our process as a training group as a prime source
of learning. Handouts will be given. Participants will be encouraged to facilitate
sessions within the workshop, enabling them to receive 'live' guidance, feedback and
support on their work.
The workshop is suitable for both new and more experienced trainers who wish to explore
the fundamentals of good training in theory and practice. There will be a maximum of 8
participants, to allow ample individual attention. The workshop will run from 10am to 5pm
on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 to 4pm on Sunday.
Cost: £150. The deposit is £75, refundable only if the workshop is cancelled. For
